The CEG is the largest unit dedicated to geographical research in Portugal. With 76 researchers, presently working, the Centre has developed research of excellent quality which is recognized both nationally and internationally. The excellence of the investigation carried out by CEG researchers is recognized not only in the academic milieu but also by civil society institutions and public organisms, with which it has celebrated several protocols aiming at the accomplishment of studies in the area of territorial planning, economical and social public policies, of which we can refer as examples the consultancy services provided to the Portuguese Parliament, and to the Ministries of the Environment, Spatial Planning and Regional Development or to the Service of Civil Protection and the National Water Institute.
