TGGS is a joint institution established by RWTH Aachen University in Germany, one of Europe’s top-ranking
universities, and her Thai partner KMUTNB in order to transfer the RWTH Aachen Model of Graduate Industryoriented
Engineering Education, Technology Innovation and Business Development to South East Asia.

Following almost 50 years of Thai-German cooperation in King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology in North Bangkok (since Dec. 2007 KMUTNB = King Mongkut’s University…), TGGS is now the living continuation of this long lasting partnership. MUTNB, the partner to RWTH Aachen in developing TGGS, has over many years adopted much of the German system and as grown up to be a university since 1986. Today, KMUTNB is one of the high ranking technical universities in Thailand with ore than 20,000 students. TGGS is the International Graduate School of Engineering within KMUTNB (Teaching in English) and has its own autonomous Thai-German administration.

According to its mission statement, “The Sirindhorn International Thai-German Graduate School of Engineering (TGGS) …
aims at the R&D-oriented education of engineers (M.Sc. and Ph.D. level) and consequently at technology innovation and
associated business development in Thailand. TGGS will serve as an example for new, industry-oriented structures in the hai higher education system and….. TGGS in Bangkok will have an effective system of engineering education, technology evelopment and research. For RWTH Aachen and her network of collaboration in Thailand, TGGS will become the main hub or R&D and business development in South East Asia...”

Currently, TGGS offers 8 international M.Sc. Programs and 2 Doctorate Programs based on the RWTH Aachen Model. In its roject-oriented industry internships and R&D thesis work, TGGS systematically links university professors, students and qualified engineers in the industry to develop university-industry interaction. With back-up and support from experienced RWTH professors and their lab resources in Aachen, TGGS has a strong focus on R&D, industry collaboration, entrepreneurship and technology-oriented business development.
