Founded in 1959, California Lutheran University is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). CLU was listed by U.S. News & World Report among the top 25 schools in the West offering quality bachelor's and master's degrees in 2006, and has repeatedly been named an outstanding university for Latino students by The Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education.

Rooted in the Lutheran tradition, the school is committed to preparing graduates equipped to succeed in their personal and professional lives, who think, communicate, lead and follow with sustained excellence and who are guided by an active moral and ethical awareness. The University enrolls approximately 200 students in its MBA in Financial Planning and financial planning certificate programs.

CLU's School of Business offers rigorous undergraduate majors in accounting, business and economics, as well as graduate and professional programs including the MBA and a Certificate in Financial Planning, offered both online and/or on-campus.

Our financial planning programs are registered by Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. (CFP Board) in Denver, Colorado. CLU's program is the only CFP Board-Registered Program which offers an online MBA in Financial Planning geared completely towards financial services professionals.

The program is being developed under the expert leadership of Somnath Basu, Ph.D., Professor of Finance and Director of the California Institute of Finance at CLU. Dr. Basu received his doctorate in finance from the University of Arizona and has conducted research and published extensively in the field of finance and financial planning. He has worked with several Fortune 100 companies as a Senior Consultant for Prudential Relocation and collaborated on many projects with the CFP Board of Standards.
