Originally chartered as Queen's College in 1766 it is the eighth-oldest college in the United States, and a member of the Association of American Universities an organization of the 62 leading research universities in North America. The School of Environmental and Biological Sciences (SEBS) is a constituent school within Rutgers and its flagship campus. SEBS specializes in environmental science, animal science and other life sciences. SEBS is beautifully located in an urban wooded area and is a home to the Rutgers Gardens, a 50-acre botanical garden.
