| Description: |
Dr. Edward Louis and the Omaha Zoo Madagascar Biodiversity and Biogeography Project (MBBP) team concentrate their efforts toward the conservation of Madagascan wildlife, develop essential infrastructure and technology transfer, and implement education programs for local communities, particularly those close to endangered habitat areas. Madagascar is considered one of the most diverse and ecologically important regions in the world. Unfortunately only 10% of this country's rainforests remain and still it faces serious thread from human encroachment and habitat loss. As a result all species of lemur are considered critically endangered to threatened, making research in Madagascar of grave importance. |
