The Vision of the Institute of Applied Technology (IAT) is to “Create a world-class Career Technical Education system that will produce the scientists, engineers and technicians needed for the UAE to build a knowledge-based economy.”
With state-of the-art facilities and excellent support services, IAT offers Career-based Technical Education (CTE) in English at the secondary and tertiary levels. IAT offers a unique opportunity to prepare its graduates for their post-secondary future by participating in personalized work-integrated learning processes and programs that are driven by academic rigor and delivered using student-centered methods. The institute’s seven campuses are located in the United Arab Emirates at Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah; with its Directorate based in Abu Dhabi.
The Applied Technology High School (ATHS) System at IAT is the first educational institution in the region outside the US, to achieve the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) District accreditation. SACS accreditation positions IAT among the world’s elite educational institutions and provides extensive opportunities for its graduates to access the world’s most prominent higher education institutes.
Along with a secondary education program, driven by UAE industry needs, IAT has developed a curriculum targeting 4 career clusters shown below, leading to the Secondary Certificate in Applied Engineering:
- Engineering Sciences Cluster where students can study general science subjects or energy related topics
- Applied Engineering Cluster, where students can focus on Electrical or Mechanical subjects.
- Information & Communication Technology (ICT) Cluster
- Health Science & Technology (HST) Cluster.
