Stanford University School of Medicine, the oldest medical school in the West, encourages intellectual diversity in students interested in developing a scholarly, investigative approach to problems in medicine and science. The school has more than 850 faculty, 1,450 postdoctoral scholars, 456 M.D. students and 546 Ph.D. and M.S. candidates.
