Description:

A five year, funded postdoctoral fellowship is currently available on a competitive basis at the NCI for a productive, highly-motivated, and energetic individual. The opening is in a laboratory studying T cell tolerance to tumor antigens. Opportunities exist to study the role of T cell avidity in tumor immunity and autoimmunity, as well as to study inflammation and cancer using contemporary murine models. A dynamic research environment and outstanding resources are available for enthusiastic individuals.

Requirements include an M.D., Ph.D., or equivalent degree and experience in Immunology research. Candidate must have excellent verbal, written, communication, and organizational skills and an ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously. The National Cancer Institute coordinates the National Cancer Program, which conducts and supports research, training, health information dissemination, and other programs with respect to the cause, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of cancer, rehabilitation from cancer, and the continuing care of cancer patients and the families of cancer patients. Specifically, the Institute:

  • Supports and coordinates research projects conducted by universities, hospitals, research foundations, and businesses throughout this country and abroad through research grants and cooperative agreements.

  • Supports construction of laboratories, clinics, and related facilities necessary for cancer research through the award of construction grants.
