Description:

Play an integral role in the growth of in-house sports medicine research activities in the Companys research facility Conduct preclinical research on the Companys product candidates to support their entrance into clinical studies Evaluate tissue specific matrices for use in the different clinical indications that the Company is pursuing, including the analysis of binding and release kinetics, matrix dissolution, cell attachment and stimulation of new tissue formation. Conduct animal studies to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of product candidates to influence tissue regeneration at sites of injury, to determine the level and quantity of new tissue formation, to assess structural integrity through biomechanical testing and to monitor for biocompatibility for in vivo use. Evaluate the combination of growth factors with synthetic and natural matrices for the release of growth factors with the desired criteria including: timing of release, maintenance of biological activity and stimulation of tissue specific regeneration Establish and manage collaborations with outside parties (academic and commercial) to conduct in vivo and in vitro evaluation of product candidates Interact with the Regulatory, Clinical and Operations departments to insure a smooth transfer of product candidates from R&D to clinical development Assist in the generation of patent submissions, scientific publications, review articles and marketing materials


Need -Direct experience in tissue regeneration for soft tissue orthopedic applications with a focus in the use of recombinant growth factors as therapeutic agents. Hands on experience with animal models of tendon and ligament rupture, overuse, and degenerative cartilage disorders. Experience with conducting and interpreting biomechanical testing, histomorphometry, and imaging studies. Strong background in tendon, ligament and cartilage biology including extensive experience with cell culture of tenocytes, mesenchymal stem cells, and chondrocytes Prior experience with the establishment and analysis of tendon, ligament, and cartilage in vitro model systems. Ability to work with outside laboratories (academic and commercial) to establish and manage collaborations including the generation of budgets, timelines and deliverables.

Background knowledge on the regulatory issues related to the development of medical devices a plus. Strong histology background to evaluate tissue samples with experience in tissue processing, fixation and staining techniques, and the evaluation of tissue sections for tendon ligament and cartilage regeneration.

Education: Ph.D. or equivalent.


Experience: 2 4 years minimum of post graduate experience in sports medicine research with an emphasis in tendon, ligament and cartilage biology.
