Description:

High Performance Technologies, Inc. (HPTi) of Reston, VA is hiring HPC Postdoctoral Staff Scientists for multiple positions within our Science and Technology practice. These positions are based at research laboratories, predominately in the mid-Atlantic area, but also at other research locations nationwide. 

Applications are sought from highly creative and motivated scientists who will join an interdisciplinary team responsible for supporting university-based basic research teams. These Postdoctoral Staff Scientists will also serve as liaisons between university partners and DoD or NOAA researchers at the laboratories, using state of the art HPC resources. Research areas require specializations in any of the following computational science areas:

 

Computational Fluid Dynamics

HPC Enabling Technologies

Networks & Information Sciences

HPC Computational Environments

Sensor Modeling

Advanced Algorithmic Development

Signal/Image Processing

Numerical Analysis

Nanotechnologies

Real-time Processing

Computational Structural Mechanics

Environmental and Climate Modeling

Postdoctoral Staff Scientists will be responsible for:

  • Conducting basic research with partners in DoD and NOAA research project areas.
  • Promoting the use of computational technologies and tools and transitioning research to DoD and/or NOAA scientists and various research sites.
  • Leading the transition and insertion of basic research to the DoD.
  • Promoting HPC education and training opportunities to the DoD and researchers within their portfolios.
  • Participating in the education and outreach activities and communicating these activities to DoD and/or NOAA researchers at sites.
  • Developing new opportunities to utilize HPC resources and promoting the use of computational sciences and engineering.

The Postdoctoral Staff Scientist performance will be measured through a variety of means including assessing the value their contribution to the research efforts, collaborating with the DoD and/or NOAA and other research areas, participating in educational and outreach activities, transitioning technology and science to the DoD and/or NOAA, research publications and conference presentations, and overall  mission impact.

Applicants must be self-motivated, interdisciplinary individuals with:

  • A PhD within the last 2 years in engineering, chemistry, biology, physics, computer sciences, applied mathematics, or related fields
  • Demonstrated abilities in problem solving, collaborative research, and communication in both peer-reviewed journals and in oral presentations
  • Programming / simulation experience using C/C++, Matlab, Fortran, Unix, and Linux
  • Ability to work in a team and interact effectively with a broad range of colleagues
  • Applicants must be U.S. citizens and meet eligibility requirements to hold a Secret level clearance. The appointment is for a two -year position with potential for renewal for a third year.
