The D. E. Shaw group seeks a talented Associate with political experience to join its Corporate Development team, which develops new financial businesses and drives global expansion for the firm.  Responsibilities include: serving as liaison between senior political advisers and business areas of the firm; researching global business, institutional, and government opportunities; identifying and coordinating meetings with political figures, business leaders, and diplomats around the world; and regularly presenting recommendations to the firm's senior management.  A bachelor's degree, an extraordinary record of academic and professional achievement, and 2-5 years of work experience are required.  The successful candidate will be a creative, critical thinker with exceptional communication, research, organizational, and analytical skills.  Political experience or full-time or internship experience in government or governmental institutions is strongly preferred, and exposure to financial services is a plus.
