The Postdoctoral Research Associate will conduct research in the bioengineering laboratory and teach in the mechanical engineering department.  A senior member of the research group, the individual hired will contribute to proposal efforts, thereby strengthening UMass Dartmouth's ability to attract external funding.  This involves conferring frequently on matters of research progress, technique, strategy etc. and disclosing findings.  Independent judgment will be required in carrying out research and contributing knowledge to advance the University's reputation in research.

The Research Associate will share student mentoring responsibilities as well as participate in departmental seminars.  Must adhere to safe laboratory practice, observing established guidelines for research involving biohazards, human subjects or animals.

A Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline is required, as is a strong research background with evidence of experimental skills in bioengineering or a related area.  The successful applicant will have research expertise in bioengineering or related area, graduate education in and ability to teach mechanical engineering subjects, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
