SHM08729: Self healing of cement paste by expansive cementitious agents

Main objective:

In this project, the post-doc researcher is required to study the possibilities on starting self healing mechanism in cracked concrete by using tricalcium aluminate based chemicals as the healing agent. The idea is to use cementitous compounds to trigger an expansive reaction for crack healing. The theory behind the healing agents to be used has been known for decades in the cement and concrete science. However utilization of these agents in the self-healing context is an entirely new theme.

Requirements

The candidate should hold a PhD degree in Chemistry or Civil Engineering Materials, and preferably experienced in cementitious systems. The candidate should have excellent communication skills, proficiency in English (both oral and written) and the ability to work in an interdisciplinary team.
