The Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology in the School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University at Buffalo under the leadership of the newly appointed Chair, Dr. Margarita L. Dubocovich, is recruiting a Research Coordinator. This is a fully state funded position with excellent benefits. The University at Buffalo, the most comprehensive within the 64-campus University Center in the State University of New York (SUNY) system and a member of the prestigious Association of American Universities (AAU), is implementing the UB2020 strategic plan that will grow its faculty, staff and student population by as much as 40% by 2020.

Amherst, a nearby suburb, has been rated as one of the safest communities in the nation. Area public schools are outstanding and housing is very affordable. In addition, the surrounding environment contains two of the Great Lakes for sailing, boating and fishing, hills for skiing and hiking and the beauty of Niagara Falls, which combine to create an optimal environment.

The successful candidate will coordinate all research and administrative activities of the laboratory, including assisting with the submission of documents necessary for compliance with university regulations involving research such as preparation and filing of research protocols for work with animals, and research safety regulations. Experience with all issues related to behavioral research, transgenic mice, animal care and genotyping, cloning and vector development, and an understanding and some practical experience in receptor pharmacology and signaling, molecular and cell biology and circadian biology will be preferable. The candidate must also have experience with computers and be familiar with Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Adobe Photoshop and other graphics software packages. The candidate needs to have excellent interpersonal skills and show leadership to be able to organize and run a research laboratory, provide guidance, develop and plan large experiments, direct the work of technicians and students doing short rotations and interact with graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and faculty.
