Environmental Risk Assessor - Greensboro, NC
Role Purpose -
Primary role is to conduct ecological risk assessments and provide technical advice to support new and existing registrations of Syngenta Crop Protection, Inc. products. This role also serves as the regional ecology lead for several Syngenta products and in specific areas of environmental toxicology/risk assessment. Works closely with regional regulatory and product safety teams and other functional teams to develop and optimize technical/scientific capabilities. Lead the development of methodologies, data, and studies specific to Syngenta products. Provide recommendations for risk determination and mitigation. Represent the company through participation in professional organizations/workshops, industry-wide task forces and at EPA meetings.
Knowledge, experience & capabilities -
Critical Knowledge:
This is an entry- to mid- level position for a PhD with a strong basic or applied research background in ecotoxicology, toxicology, ecological risk assessment, or a related discipline; knowledge of GIS, environmental fate, and/or ecological risk assessment of agricultural chemicals is a plus.
A strong capacity for problem solving (strong planning, organizing ability to adapt and/or develop technical skills in multiple disciplines beyond area of expertise and manage multiple projects and priorities) coupled with strong written and verbal communication skills is vital to this position. Ability to interact and communicate with internal and external customers and a thorough understanding of the techno-regulatory environment. This position is best suited for an energetic team-player who also has the ability to operate autonomously with the ability to multi-task and who understands both the technical details as well as the broader picture.
Ph.D. in an environmental toxicology-related field and experience with risk assessment, interactions with regulatory authorities, and issue management are preferred.
