A postdoctoral position is available immediately in the laboratory of Dr. Matthew Gentry (http://www.mc.uky.edu/biochemistry/dept_personnel/faculty/gentry.asp), in the Department of Molecular & Cellular Biochemistry in the College of Medicine at University of Kentucky. The successful candidate will carry out studies on the mechanisms of Lafora disease and neurodegeneration using genetically modified mice and cell models. Other studies, including molecular and cell biological studies (i.e. live cell imaging) will also be conducted. Applicants should have a strong background in biochemistry, cell biology, and neurobiology. Experience with mouse models and immunohistochemical techniques are a strong plus. The successful applicant will be a highly motivated individual with good communication skills, interest and experience in neuroscience, and the ability to work independently. The applicant must currently have a Ph.D. in Cell Biology, Biochemistry or related field in the basic sciences in order to apply. Competitive salary will be based on qualifications, and appointment will be for 1 year with possibility of renewal on a yearly basis.
