| Job Title: | Postdoc in biophysical enzymology of cytochromes P450 |
| Description: |
A postdoctoral position in the Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Californis San Diego is available immediately to study the mechanisms of allosteric regulation in drug-metabolizing cytochromes P450. The project headed by Drs. James Halpert and Dmitri Davydov is focused on elucidation of conformational dynamics of the enzyme and related mechanisms of allosteric regulation of protein-protein interactions in the membranous system. Approaches include steady-state and life-time fluorescence resonance energy transfer, pressure-perturbation spectroscopy, rapid kinetics (rapid-scanning stop-flow and pressure jump), advanced uv-vis spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography. A Ph.D. in biophysics or biochemistry and a strong background in biophysical enzymology, enzyme kinetics and mathematical methods of data analysis are required. Experience in biophysical studies of cytochromes P450 or other heme proteins is an advantage. Independent and motivated candidates with a strong record of research accomplishments are encouraged to apply.
