Job Title: Senior Windows Architect
Description:

Extraordinarily intelligent and resourceful individual sought to help architect next-generation Microsoft Windows infrastructure for the D. E. Shaw group, a global investment and technology development firm with approximately US $39 billion in aggregate capital and an international reputation for financial innovation and technological leadership. The person we hire should be capable of conceptualizing, building, and deploying systems management and automation technologies for a large body of Windows servers and Windows PC clients. He or she will work both independently and with our 35-person systems staff on substantial design and research projects within the Windows environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a scalable Windows server environment for both our campus and global networks
  • Identify, research, evaluate, and implement emerging Windows technologies
  • Develop and implement automation and management tools
  • Engineer application, database, and messaging solutions for the firm's growing, highly-resilient Windows infrastructure
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with server applications in a Microsoft networked environment
  • High level of expertise in the following areas:
    • Windows 2000/2003 Server
    • Exchange 2000/2003 Server
    • SQL 2000/2005 Server
    • Active Directory management
    • Security management (including Group Policy Objects)
    • Citrix and VM Ware
  • Experience with UNIX administration
  • Experience with LAN administration
  • Solid programming and scripting abilities
  • Project management and documentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage packages (release updates) and apply security patches
  • Demonstrated ability to develop tools to maintain and monitor corporate infrastructure
