JOB DESCRIPTION: Take a lead role in designing an enterprise information architecture that dynamically facilitates translational research through integration across all sectors of a medical center: clinical care, operations, education, and research. Publish in peer reviewed conferences and journals, and participate in and develop informatics-related proposals. Serve as a member of both medical center information warehouse and biomedical informatics teams, and coordinate the application of each team's resources to best meet the needs of specific research projects. Work closely with researchers to develop viable informatics and analysis strategies that lead to new solutions or leverage existing assets. Pursue the development or adoption of new informatics technologies in areas such as grid computing, image analysis and mining, and high throughput genomics data analysis. Supervise a team of software developers to implement high quality software components and applications. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 1) MD or PhD degree with minimum one-year research experience in clinical and translational research informatics, or PhD degree in Biomedical Informatics, or PhD degree in Computer Science with strong background in medical informatics; or 2) MS degree in Computer Science, Biomedical Informatics, or related field, and significant amount of experience as well as national reputation in the field of clinical and/or translational research. Familiarity with HIPAA regulation and privacy protection requirements. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience with bioinformatics software development, data warehousing and data mining, modern application analysis and design, object-oriented programming, ontology management and knowledge integration systems, natural language processing tools, and tools designed to support the discovery, analysis, and integration of high-throughput biomedical data sets.
