The Dauphin Island Sea Lab (DISL) invites applications for a permanent faculty position at the Senior Marine Scientist I level (equivalent to Asst. Professor).  We seek candidates to complement the expertise of our current faculty, whose interests include marine ecology, physical, chemical and biological oceanography.  Areas of preference include, but are not limited to, wetlands ecology and biogeochemistry, microzooplankton ecology, quantitative modeling, physical-biological coupling, and impacts of climate change in estuarine and coastal systems.  Duties include establishing and maintaining a productive research program, teaching 2 courses per year and advising graduate students.  Competitive start-up funding is available.  A Ph.D. must be completed prior to start date.  Post-doc experience is highly preferred. DISL (established in 1971) is the marine science educational and research facility for the higher education system in Alabama, and has grown into a thriving marine laboratory (for more information, visit www.disl.org).
