Job Title: Molecular Immunology - DNA Recombination and Repair, Dr. Sebastian Fugmann
Description:

Department of Health and Human Services
National Institutes of Health
National Institute on Aging

The National Institute on Aging (NIA), a major research component of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), is recruiting for a postdoctoral fellow to work within the Intramural Research Program in the Molecular Immunology Unit (led by Dr. Sebastian Fugmann) of the Laboratory of Cellular and Molecular Biology.

Projects are focused on the mechanisms/regulation of DNA recombination and repair in lymphocytes (in particular V(D)J recombination and immunoglobulin gene conversion), and the evolution of the adaptive immunity (with sea urchins being our invertebrate model system). Experimental approaches include cell-line based in vivo systems and biochemical in vitro assays using purified (recombinant) proteins.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. (or M.D.) degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related field, and less than 5 years of postdoctoral experience. Salary is commensurate with research experience, according to the NIH intramural pay scale. The laboratory is located in Baltimore, MD, a city with a stimulating scientific and cultural environment.

Interested applicants should click on the button below or e-mail a curriculum vitae, bibliography, cover letter, a brief description of their research interests, and the names of three references to Dr. Sebastian Fugmann at fugmanns@grc.nia.nih.gov.

The NIH is dedicated to building a diverse community in its training and employment programs.
