Description:

The Department of Mathematics at Texas A&M University-Kingsville invites applications for a tenure-track (nine-month basis) position in mathematics at the assistant professor level, beginning January 2009.   Applicants should have a doctorate in the mathematical sciences or mathematics education, including at least 18 graduate hours in mathematics, and have the skills and commitment to provide high-quality undergraduate education within a culturally diverse environment.  ABD considered.  Preference will be given to candidates with a background in Applied/Computational Mathematics, who would have an interest in developing courses on applied topics, possibly in collaboration with other disciplines.  Applicants should be prepared to teach courses across the undergraduate curriculum (24 credits per year), including core courses, and may occasionally teach graduate courses as well.   The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active research program, and ideally be able to involve students in his/her creative or scholarly work. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
