The Department of Mathematics at Texas A&M University-Kingsville invites applications for a tenure-track appointment (nine-month basis) in mathematics with statistics emphasis at the assistant professor level, beginning fall 2009. Applicants should have a doctorate in mathematical sciences, statistics, or mathematics education, including at least 18 graduate hours in mathematics and at least 18 graduate hours in statistics. ABD considered. Skills and commitment to provide high-quality undergraduate education within a culturally diverse environment are essential. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in teaching statistics and developing/revising statistical courses in collaboration with other disciplines. Knowledge of statistical software packages is desirable. Applicants should be prepared to teach courses across the undergraduate curriculum (24 credits per year), including core courses, and may teach graduate courses as well. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active research program, and ideally be able to involve students in his/her creative or scholarly work. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. Housed in the College of Arts and Sciences, the Department of Mathematics offers undergraduate and masters degree programs.
