Applications are invited for several PhD/Postdoc positions at the newly created Chair of computational mathematics and numerical analysis to be led by Prof. Assyr Abdulle from January 2009 at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland.

The main research focus will be in computational methods and numerical analysis of multiscale partial differential equations and stiff/multiscale stochastic differential equations with possible applications in chemistry, medicine or material sciences.

A degree in mathematics, physics or related field is required. Preference will be given to candidates with a good knowledge of numerical methods for ordinary/partial or stochastic differential equations. The candidates must be familiar with writing computer codes (Matlab, Fortran or C++). Sufficient level of written and spoken English is required.
