Description:

SAIC-Frederick, Inc. is looking for a Post Doctoral Fellow to Support our Clinical Services Program at our location in Frederick, Maryland. The Post Doctoral Fellow will conduct comparative proteomic studies on experimental and clinical samples to identify proteins that are differentially expressed, study the biological roles of the protein markers identified and prepare results for publication in scientific journals. Focus will be on the plasma proteome of IL-2 treated HIV patients.

Required Skills: Doctorate degree from an accredited college/university in a discipline related to biomedical research. Foreign educated candidates who have completed part or all of their education outside of the United States must have their foreign education evaluated by an SAIC-approved accrediting organization to assure that it has met the equivalency of the qualifications of degree work in the United States. Working knowledge of basic biochemical techniques. Ability to initiate and complete independent research. Must have the ability to effectively communicate the research findings through written documents and manuscripts. This position is subject to obtaining a Public Trust Clearance.

Desired Skills: Knowledge of protein fractionation/ separation techniques. Use of the comparative proteomics tools, including the 2D gel electrophoresis and mass spectrometry

SAIC-Frederick, Inc., a subsidiary of SAIC, is the Operations and Technical Support (OTS) Contractor for the National Cancer Institute at Frederick (NCI-Frederick) a federally funded research and development center. The mission of SAIC-Frederick, Inc. is to provide scientific, technical, management, administrative, and logistical support to National Institutes of Health (NIH) intramural laboratory research and development related to the causes of and cures for cancer and AIDS.
