| Description: |
An NIH-funded postdoctoral fellowship (2 years, renewable) is available in the computational biology group of Hannenhalli at the University of Pennsylvania. The research project aims to understand the eukaryotic transcriptional regulation and in particular the evolution of transcriptional regulation through expansion and functional divergence of gene families. Areas of interest in the Hannenhalli group include combinatorial and statistical methods development for investigating combinatorial gene regulation and the evolution of gene regulation. In addition a number of clinically relevant collaborative applications are in place. Requirements for the position include: a proven record of self-motivated research; a PhD in computer science, mathematics, statistics, physics, biology or related area; excellent quantitative skills. The candidate must be familiar with scientific programming, and should ideally have experience with analyzing biological data, in particular, pertaining to gene transcription.
