POSITION: Senior Scientist Microbiology/Metabolic Engineering
Our client is a renewable oil production firm. We are the leader in algal biotechnology, harnessing the power of microalgae to renewably produce clean and scalable fuels, chemicals, and food oils and health and wellness materials.
 
The company is located in the heart of the biotechnology corridor in South San Francisco California.

The successful candidate will apply their expertise to the engineering of microorganisms to produce valuable oleochemicals. They will have an in-depth knowledge of complex biochemical pathways and a demonstrated ability to modify them.

REQUIREMENTS:

• PhD degree in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Systems Biology or related science and at least 3 years of postdoctoral and/or industrial experience.
• Experience in strain modification to produce novel, secondary metabolites.
• Experience with non-conventional microbes and metabolic pathway modeling tools are highly desirable.
• Well-honed analytical skills and computer proficiency.
• Excellent time management capabilities, including the ability to prioritize diverse tasks within the overall context of a fast-moving project.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with the ability to present clear and concise data from experimental results.
• The desire and ability to be a team player, along with the skills necessary to lead a team, manage a project, and to coordinate effectively with commercialization teams.
• Demonstrated ability to self-motivate, function independently and multi-task with minimal direction.
• The desire and ability to train and guide multiple Research Associates.
