Working with the user community and under the direction of the Coherent Hard X-ray Scattering Group Leader, will be responsible for the development of a scientific research program and its technical implementation at a state-of-the-art coherent hard x-ray scattering beamline at NSLS-II; including its design, construction, and commissioning. This position requires a PhD in physics or a related field, and two to five years postdoctoral experience in synchrotron research and applications. The successful candidate must have excellent written and oral communications skills and be able to interact effectively with a diverse group of scientists, technical staff, and users. Experience in x-ray photon correlation spectroscopy, construction or operation of a synchrotron beamline and in coherent x-ray optics is highly desirable. NSLS-II is a proposed new state-of-the-art medium energy storage ring designed to deliver world leading brightness and flux with top-off operation for constant output. The facility will be able to produce x-rays up to 10,000 times brighter than those produced at the NSLS today. Design and engineering of the new light source began in 2007 and construction and operations are expected to begin in 2009 and 2015, respectively. |
