Description:

The Laboratory of Muscle Stem Cells and Gene Regulation at NIAMS, NIH has an immediate opening for a bioinformatician with experience in the analysis of microarray data and ultra high-throughput sequencing (UHS) (Solexa/Illumina platform).

The successful applicant will be a highly motivated and innovative individual with a degree in bioinformatics, computer science, or a pertinently related field such as mathematics, physics, statistics, or computational biology. Expertise with R/MATLAB, GeneSpring/Partek, and UCSC genome browser is a plus. The individual will be involved in designing experiments and developing analysis strategies and pipelines for handling large quantities of biological data.

He/she will work closely with a group of biologists interested in the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying skeletal muscle differentiation. Ongoing experiments cover ChIP-Seq, RNA-Seq, and microRNA-Seq. Excellent communications skills and the ability to work on a variety of projects are essential.
