Description:

POSITION: Assistant/Associate Professor (Exercise Physiology).  This is a nine-month tenure-track position in the Department of Exercise, Sport, and Leisure Studies.

Exercise physiology is part of the Exercise Science program housed in the Department of Exercise, Sport, and Leisure Studies within the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences.  Exercise Science offers degrees at the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. levels. Other program areas in the department are Sport Management, Recreation and Leisure Studies, and Sport Studies.

Designated a Carnegie doctoral/research extensive university, UTK is the oldest, largest and most comprehensive institution of higher education in Tennessee.  Academic programs on the Knoxville campus enroll approximately 20,000 undergraduate students and 6,000 graduate students.  Detailed information about the University of Tennessee may be obtained by visiting the Web site: http://www.utk.edu.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Earned doctorate in exercise physiology or related discipline
- Record of research on obesity, metabolism, and/or obesity-related conditions
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills
- Scholarly publications in peer-reviewed journals                                          

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- University teaching experience
- Post-doctoral research experience
- Evidence of extramural support for research
- Commitment to professional organizations

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Establish independent, externally funded research program, and publish in refereed journals
- Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in exercise physiology and related areas
- Advise students and direct graduate projects, theses, and dissertations 
- Provide professional, university, and community service

SALARY: Competitive and commensurate with experience.
