The successful candidate will interact closely with the Discovery, Molecular Biology, Metabolic Engineering and Fermentation Departments. Experience with classical mutagenesis and high-throughput screening techniques (e.g., FACS) is preferred. A thorough knowledge of industrial microbiology and biochemical engineering principles, experience working with fermentation process development groups and demonstrated leadership and management skills are essential for this position.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Ph.D. in microbiology, biochemical engineering, or related science, and 7-10 years of industrial experience.
- Thorough understanding of microbial physiology as it relates to fermentation.
- Demonstrated experience leading scientists, research associates, and technicians in an industrial setting and a proven track record organizing and running a development organization.
- Excellent managerial capabilities, including the ability to prioritize tasks and deploy resources in a highly efficient manner.
- Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to navigate roadblocks.
- Proficiency in strain improvement, medium development, and fermentation development.
- Demonstrated technical expertise in developing industrial organisms.
- Experience with high-throughput screening techniques is preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with the ability to present clear and concise data to upper management.
