Position Available: Post-Doctoral Research Fellow University of Montréal, Montréal, CANADA The Energy Materials Research Group at the University of Montréal has an opening for a Postdoctoral Fellow to direct and carry out research in the area of lithium-ion cathode materials. The focus will be on new materials development and characterization. The position is funded under an NSERC-Phostech Lithium Indusrial Research Chair under the supervision of Prof. Dean MacNeil. The candidate will plan, document and carry out research on novel cathode materials while collaborating closely with industrial research laboratories and a dynamic group of young scientists. Requirements: • A recent (< 4 years) PhD in Inorganic Chemistry, Solid State Chemistry, Material Science or a related field OR postdoctoral experience in inorganic material synthesis, processing and characterization. • Knowledge of material characterization methods such as powder XRD, STEM, SEM, BET, XPS, DSC/TGA and Raman etc. would be a big plus. • Experience in electrochemistry especially in electrochemical energy storage is highly desirable. • Previous experience with lithium-ion electrode materials is a plus (especially olivine related materials). • Candidates must possess a strong publication record; demonstrate good communication skills and technical writing skills. They must be self-motivated and have the ability to plan and complete research projects with minimum supervision. • A working knowledge of French would be an asset but not required. The position is anticipated for one year with possible extension depending upon the performance of the applicant.
