A postdoctoral fellow position is available in the Molecular Endocrinology Group directed by John A. Cidlowski. Investigations will include molecular and electrophysiological analysis of cellular mechanisms and signaling pathways involved in both suppression and activation of immune cell apoptosis.

We seek a creative, independent scientist with a strong background in molecular biology, pharmacology, cell biology, and/or electrophysiology (patch clamping) to study the roles and regulation of ion channels in apoptosis. We have state of the art facilities, research cores, and outstanding funding for this research.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Physiology, Molecular biology/Cell biology, or Pharmacology and have less than three years' prior postdoctoral experience. NIH offers excellent salary and health care packages to its trainees.

The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), located in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, is one of 27 research institutes and centers that comprise the National Institutes of Health (NIH), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). The mission of the NIEHS is to reduce the burden of human illness and disability by understanding how the environment influences the development and progression of human disease.

The NIEHS traces its roots to 1966, when the U.S. Surgeon General announced the establishment of the Division of Environmental Health Sciences within the NIH. In 1969, the division was elevated to full NIH institute status.
