Job Title: Postdoctoral position in Bioinformatics/ Computational Biology on ontologies and meta-analysis
Description:

Post-doctoral position available starting immediately to help develop biomedical ontologies and software tools leveraging ontologies for analysis. Our group has been involved in the creation of the MGED Ontology for microarray experiments and is now working with a large international consortium on the Ontology for Biomedical Investigation (OBI, http://obi-ontology.org/page/Main_Page). We are looking for someone to join this effort that not only will help build OBI but also generate biologist friendly views that can be used in software tools for annotation. We are also funded to prototype tools that use (ontology-based) annotations to drive meta-analysis of microarray and related types of experiments. Our group is also involved in eukaryotic pathogen (EuPathDB; http://eupathdb.org/eupathdb/) and diabetes-related (Beta Cell Genomics; http://genomics.betacell.org/gbco/) that helps drive our ontology needs. The ideal candidate will have familiarity with biological experiments involving functional genomics (e.g., microarrays) plus the ability to write software (Perl, Java) and has worked with ontologies (in OWL or OBO) and used ontology development tools (e.g., Protege, OBO-edit). Good communication skills are essential.
