Miami University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position to begin in August 2009. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Microbiology or closely related discipline with an emphasis in Bioinformatics or Computational Biology, and postdoctoral research experience that applied computer sciences to biology. Teaching responsibilities include introductory and advanced level courses in microbial genomics and bioinformatics, and directing M.S. and Ph.D. students. The successful applicant will establish and maintain an externally funded, hypothesis-driven research program based on the development and application of tools and algorithms used in bioinformatics, structural biology, and/or the analysis of microbial genomic and/or metagenomic databases and biological networks, and provide service to the University.
