Job Title: Postdoctoral Research Associate
Description:

The Institute for Advanced Computing Applications and Technologies and the National Center for Supercomputing Applications at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign has one Postdoctoral Research Associate position available. Responsibilities include assigned research tasks in high-performance computing and calibration and imaging algorithm development for the Square Kilometer Array (SKA), a next-generation radio telescope with petascale data and compute rates, currently funded internationally for design and development over the period 2008-2011 (http://www.skatelescope.org). US efforts in research and development for the SKA are funded within the US SKA Technology Development Project (TDP). UIUC leads the calibration and processing research group (CPG) within the TDP. The CPG is a collaboration of ten North American institutions and universities, tasked with evaluating and demonstrating the cost and feasibility of calibration and processing challenges for the SKA. This position is intended to contribute to CPG research with a specific focus on high-performance computing and algorithms at extreme scales

Required Education and Experience:

Alternative degree fields will be considered if accompanied by equivalent experience (depending on nature and depth of experience as it relates to current NCSA business needs).
  2. Expertise in high-performance scientific computing or advanced computational science and engineering is required.
  3. Experience in radio interferometry or inverse image formation problems is an advantage.

This position at NCSA is a 12-month, 100%-time appointment with regular University benefits. Funding for this position is available for up to three years and is subject to the yearly reappointment process.
