Research associates

in the research group "Interphase phenomena" within the Centre for Innovation Competence "VIRTUHCON - Virtual High Temperature Conversion Processes" based at TU Bergakademie Freiberg.

Salary:  13 TV-L (Salary range, according to qualification: 33,400 € - 48,440 € per annum)

At VIRTUHCON centre three research groups focus on the development of new technologies in the fields of energy and material conversion. Research is based on the numerical simulation and virtualization of high temperature conversion processes.

The research group "Interphase phenomena" will investigate interphase phenoma occurring during gasification of coal/wood and production of pig iron. Main aspects are the interdisciplinary analysis and the mathematical and natural scientific based description of material, impulse and energy transport processes on molecular scale at boundary layers considering surface reactions.

Applicants should have a PhD or Diploma/MSc degree (willing to earn a PhD degree) in engineering or natural sciences (e.g. process engineering, reaction engineering, metallurgy, materials science, physics, fluid dynamics), experience in the field of numerical simulations (finite volume methods) and knowledge of Unix/Linux, Fortran and Tecplot. Candidates should be able to develop and apply new concepts, to organize the own work with minimal supervision and be willing to work as part of a team and to be open-minded and cooperative.

The positions are all funded by external sponsorship and appointments will therefore be made on a fixed term basis for up to five years.
