The Provost at Duke University has created a Postdoctoral Program, with competitive research appointments as a Postdoctoral Associate for two years. The goal of the program is to increase the diversity of scholars who have potential for becoming tenure track faculty at Duke University or peer institutions. Academic excellence, prior record of accomplishments, potential to bring diverse ideas to Duke University and to interact successfully with a broad range of  differences among faculty and students, and the identification and willingness of the sponsoring Duke senior  faculty mentor, will form the major selection criteria. Completion of doctoral degree between July 1, 2004 and July 1, 2009 is required. Applicants must be US citizens or permanent residents. Required application materials include: curriculum vitae, sample publications and/or dissertation materials, three letters of recommendation, a statement of research plans and goals, a personal statement of the applicant’s reasons for applying and potentially for selection, a supporting letter from the proposed senior faculty mentor at Duke University and a cover letter. All materials must be postmarked by January 23, 2009, and will not be returned to the applicant. Incomplete submissions will not be accepted.
