Job Title: Postdoctoral Fellow - Cell Biology
Description:

The National Resource for Imaging Mass Spectrometry (NRIMS, www.nrims.hms.harvard.edu) has several Postdoctoral Fellow positions open to work on a variety of projects using Multi-isotope Imaging Mass Spectrometry (MIMS), which allows high-resolution quantitative imaging of stable isotope tagged molecules.

Several projects involve measuring DNA replication and cell generation in cultured cells and mice as a function of age, as well as optimizing the long-term labeling of DNA with stable isotopes. Projects include the study of stem cell tracking and nesting in a variety of organs.

One project is to study inositol compartmentalization in cells. MIMS will be used to localize and measure stable isotope labeled inositides. Experiments will use several cell types, from yeast to mammalian neurons.

A commitment of at least 2 years is required for all positions. Candidates must hold a PhD in biological sciences.

NRIMS is an NIH-supported National Resource developing MIMS. NRIMS is part of Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School, and is an affiliated core laboratory of the Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Set-up and perform in vitro and in vivo experiments with cell cultures, yeast and mice, using stable isotope-labeled nucleotides
- Learn and use the Multi-isotope Imaging Mass Spectrometry methodology
- Analyze quantitative images of biological samples using custom imaging software and statistical techniques
- Report on results and write manuscripts

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
- Ph.D in biomedical sciences
- Experience with cell culture and mouse experiments
- Image and data analysis experience helpful

LOCATION: Cambridge, MA, USA
