Overall Purpose of Job

As our client’s business grows, they are looking to increase their use of analytics, quantitative analysis and modeling to meet customer and company requirements. Their Quantitative Analysis Unit will play a key role in providing analytical competence and they are now looking to hire a Senior Quantitative Analyst.

In this new role of Senior Quantitative Analyst you will be responsible for managing and enhancing the analysis capability and infrastructure across key strategic areas of their business. Reporting to the Head of Risk, you will operate as an internal consultant across all areas of the company’s operations including online, product development and financial performance.  You will play a key role in research, analysis and communication of results in these areas to senior management.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate past successes in analysis and profiling customer behavior from large data sets, evaluation of marketing and product initiatives, development of leading edge models for pricing & scenario analysis, innovation and fresh thinking applied to business problems, exposure to senior management teams, strong statistical and numerate ability and a clear and concise communication style.

Success in your role will be measurable across the company through enhanced understanding of the business, more efficient processes, improved customer management, new and innovative product development and demand for more of the same from the business managers.

This new role offers the successful candidate the opportunity to operate at a senior level and make a real difference to the successful operation of our client’s business model. The internal consultant nature of the role will allow you gain exposure to a wide spectrum of issues and areas allowing you to gain a thorough understanding of the company, online operations and the bookmaking business.

Main duties & responsibilities:

• Research and analyse key business drivers, customer management, special offers, financial performance and new business opportunities.

Your work will include:

• Production of actionable outcomes from quantitative analysis including;
• Work on customer profiling,  acquisition and management
• Research and analysis on new product opportunities and pricing mechanisms
• Development of KPIs and operating metrics
• Modeling of retrospective and prospective profitability
• Managing third party relationships with external analysis providers
• Ad hoc consultancy within the company.
• Provide thought leadership for the business as part of a centre of excellence within our client;
• Work collaboratively across groups to secure buy-in and drive issues to resolution and ideas to acceptance.
• Increase the effectiveness of staff and tools by recognizing opportunities for development and following through to create new systems and structures.
• Data mining our client’s databases of sports, specials and customer transactions to drive and support the findings of your work.
  
• Production of innovative, timely and accurate pricing models of sporting events
• Modeling and production of pricing models for in running derivative markets
• Other duties as required by Head of Risk

Requirements:

• §  Experienced business analyst, with track record of responsibility, independence and ability to lead and drive complex operational and strategic initiatives.
• §  Demonstrated interest in modeling and analysis with strong track record in complex analysis and a high degree of analytical rigor.
• §  Ability to produce pricing models based on mathematical and statistical techniques
• §  Capability to perform structured analysis of data and synthesiseinto useful formats bringing actionable insights. Knowledge of SQL a distinct advantage.
• §  Distinctive research, problem solving and analytical skills, combined with strong business judgment.
• §  Demonstrated statistical ability and experience of using statistical software and techniques (S-Plus, R, SPSS etc).
• §  Numerate university degree or equivalent highly desirable
• §  Distinctive ability in Microsoft Excel and Excel VBA required.
• §  Experience in the customer facing internet or telecoms industries an advantage. Experience of customer profiling in such an environment a distinct advantage.
• §  Programming languages an advantage (C++, Java).
• §  Pro-active problem solver attitude with flexibility to work across an open, fast moving entrepreneurial company.
• §  Consulting experience, financial trading room or bookmaking experience an advantage.
