RESEARCH AREA: MECHANISMS OF INFLAMMATORY ARTHRITIS AND BONE DESTRUCTION: A POSTOCTORAL POSITION is available for research involving pathogenic mechanisms in bone loss in inflammatory states. Projects focus on: studies addressing the mechanisms of bone loss, erosion and repair in animal models of arthritis, analysis of contributing factors and cell types including contribution of the BMP and Wnt signaling pathways, and transcription regulation of genes involved in bone remodeling in inflammatory arthritis. Excellent collaborative research environment including multiple core facilities. The research will involve the use of well-validated animal models, histopathology, micro-CT, micro-array techniques, and quantitative PCR. Training in specific arthritis models and micro-CT will be provided.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. or M.D. degree. A strong background in molecular biology and/or immunology is required along with knowledge of data analysis and interpretation, and simple statistical analysis. Experience in animal models, histology and analysis of bone tissue is also sought, though not required. The position is available now and is funded.
