As part of a multi-institutional Genomics: GTL program to study multi-protein complexes and their dynamic localization, a Postdoctoral Fellow for the Structural Proteomics Development group within the Physical Biosciences Division, will perform procedures related to molecular biology, expression, purification, and crystallization of proteins for structural studies of novel proteins and protein complexes.

The postdoctoral fellow will work with other scientists/engineers to implement high-throughput methods for these tasks and in the development of technologies for structural systems biology.


As a Biologist Postdoctoral Fellow you will:

  • Be responsible for performing laboratory procedures including: expression, purification, and crystallization of proteins and bimolecular complexes.
  • Develop high-throughput proteomics instrumentation and methods for bimolecular complexes.
  • Perform biochemical, molecular biological, and crystallization experiments.
  • Develop projects in structural proteomics.
Key Success Factors:
  • Ph.D. in molecular biology, biophysics, bioengineering or other related field with less than two years post doctorate experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of laboratory experience in basic biochemistry, molecular biology, and purification procedures.
  • Experience in laboratory automation.
  • Experience and familiarity with the following laboratory procedures: running gels, HPLC of proteins, crystallization of proteins; including membrane proteins.
  • Experience working in a scientific or research-related area, e.g., biotech, academic institution, etc.
  • Ability to work as a team member to accomplish specific projects and milestones.

This is a one-year Term appointment with a possibility of renewal under the same conditions, contingent upon availability of work and continued funding.
