Description:

SMART is a major new research enterprise established by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in partnership with the National Research Foundation of Singapore (NRF). SMART serves as an intellectual hub for international research collaborations, not only between MIT and Singapore, but also involving researchers from the region and beyond. At SMART, we identify and carry out research on critical problems of societal importance. SMART is a magnet attracting and anchoring global research talent, while simultaneously instilling and promoting a culture of translational research and entrepreneurship in Singapore. Three interdisciplinary research groups (IRGs) have been established to date: BioSystems and Micromechanics (BioSym), Centre for Environmental Sensing and Modeling (CENSAM) and Infectious Diseases (ID). Two new IRGs will be established at SMART soon.

In the Infectious Diseases IRG, you will have opportunity to work with leading investigators in novel platform technologies and their applications in the following diseases: malaria, tuberculosis, influenza and respiratory syncytial virus infections. The IRG is currently looking for a Postdoctoral Associate.

Postdoctoral Associate (Influenza)
Winning candidate will become part of a SMART research program in Singapore studying a pressing public health problem: influenza. This research project is focused on exogenous and endogenous factors that modulate disease severity following an infection by influenza. The experiments will primarily be based on mouse models.

Requirements:
- Candidate must have a doctorate in the life-sciences.
- Experience in mouse husbandry and tissue analysis is required.
- Molecular biology expertise, infectious disease experience, and histology experience are a plus.
- Ability to work independently but within a team-based research environment is essential.
