The Boone Pickens School of Geology at Oklahoma State University seeks applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the broad area of structural geology. We are particularly interested in someone with interest in one or more of the following research areas; structural analysis of petroleum reservoirs, basin evolution, continental tectonics, neotectonics. The appointment will be at the assistant professor level and effective August 2010. The applicant is required to have a Ph.D. in geology or related field at the time of appointment. The applicant must show promise of an outstanding research program and be committed to excellence in teaching. The successful candidate will be expected to supervise M.S. and Ph.D. level graduate students and develop courses in her or his specialty. In addition, she/he will participate in teaching introductory geology courses and teach a core geology curriculum course in structural geology. The successful candidate will join a faculty or eleven geoscientists and will be part of the sedimentary geology, petroleum geology, and tectonics research groups that include six other faculty and has close ties to the petroleum industry. In addition, to other research facilities the School of Geology has the Devon Teaching and Research Laboratory, which contains state-of-the-art 3-D image processing facilities. Screening of candidates will begin December 31, 2009 and continue until the position is filled. Filling of this position will be dependent on the availability of funding.
