The Department of Geology and Geography in the Allen E. Paulson College of Science and Technology invites nominations and applications for the tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Geography.

Within this setting, the Department offers undergraduate degree programs in both
geography and geology. In addition, the Minor in GIS attracts students from a range of disciplines.

Position Description. Reporting to the Department Chair, the Assistant Professor of Geography will be a broadly trained physical or human geographer who applies GIS in their research. The individual selected will participate in teaching core courses in geography, courses in his/her specialty, and undergraduate GIS classes. The position is a 9-month appointment, and the salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience

Required Qualifications:
• A PhD in geography or a closely related discipline must be completed by the position starting date of August 1, 2010.
• Must apply GIS in disciplinary research

Preferred Qualifications:
• Previous teaching experience.
• Specialty that complements the Department’s existing expertise.
