Title: Research Associate
 
Requirements: PhD in Math, Statistics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Neuroscience. Candidates should have a strong background in one or more of information theory, machine learning, modeling neural networks, and computational neuroscience.

Job Duties: Research position in the Center for Sleep and Consciousness at the University of Wisconsin - Madison, under the direction of Professor Giulio Tononi.

The candidate will work with Dr. Tononi and collaborators at other institutions on a project to design and develop a large-scale (>10^6 electronic neurons and >10^9 nano-synapses) neuromorphic architecture: a network of plastic spiking neurons, implemented in hardware, capable of learning complex behaviors through interactions with virtual environments. Key components of the project include designing, implementing and validating computer models of architectures; and developing and applying information-theoretical approaches to analyzing and visualizing system performance.

Candidates must have a PhD. Salary is commensurate with experience and accomplishments. Initial appointment is for 1-2 years, with extension up to 4 years.
