The Department of Sociology and Anthropology in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences invites nominations and applications for the position of non-tenure track lecturer in Sociology. Position Description. Reporting to the department chair, the non-tenure-track lecturer in sociology teaches 12 credit hours per semester (four three-credit hour courses) and holds regular office hours. Attendance at departmental meetings is expected, as is departmental, college, and/or university service. Research and professional development are encouraged. Collegiality is essential. The position is a 9-month appointment, and the salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Required Qualifications: Expertise to teach introduction to sociology Master of Arts in Sociology (or closely related field) Preferred Qualifications: PhD in Sociology (or closely related field) At least 2 years experience teaching college-level courses Expertise to teach courses in at least one of the following specialties: aging, deviance, social psychology, or social change Screening of applications begins October 20, 2009, and continues until the position is filled. Position starting date is August 1, 2010.
