The Department of Communication Arts in the College of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences invites nominations and applications for the non-tenure track position of lecturer in journalism.
Position Description. Reporting to the Department Chair, the Lecturer in Journalism will teach basic and advanced courses in reporting/writing, journalistic practice, and courses such as copy editing and feature writing, depending on expertise. Also expected are contributions to professional service and development, student advising, and internship program management. The position is a 9-month appointment, and the salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Required Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in journalism or a closely-related discipline by August 1, 2010
• Minimum of five year’s significant professional journalism experience
• Some college/university-level teaching experience
• Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and professional service
• Excellent communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
• Ph.D. in journalism or a closely related discipline
• Media management experience
• Editing and/or design experience
• Familiarity with issues and applications relating to convergent media
• Internship management experience
• Experience teaching a diverse student body
