The Psychology Department in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences invites nominations and applications for an open rank faculty position beginning fall 2010.

Position Description. Reporting to the Department Chair, the individual in this position will teach in and play a significant role in the department’s new Psy.D. program in clinical psychology. The program admitted its first cohort of students in fall 2007 and is working towards accreditation by the American Psychological Association. The Psy.D. program is committed to training generalist psychologists to do practice and assessment in underserved, rural settings and/or with rural clientele. In addition, the program is dedicated to promoting scholarly activities that will enhance the development of rural health practice.

Candidates who have an interest and demonstrated experience in this area are encouraged to apply. Teaching responsibilities include a subset of the following: clinically-related undergraduate courses (e.g., abnormal, substance abuse) and clinical doctoral courses (e.g., Psychotherapy Foundations, Clinical Skills, Practicum Supervision). The position also requires engaging in research in the individual’s area of expertise. The position is a 9-month appointment, and the salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Required Qualifications:
• Doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology by August 1, 2010
• Licensed or license-eligible at the doctoral level in GA
• Evidence of college/university teaching ability
• Evidence of potential for scholarship
• Ability to work with diverse populations
• Ability to contribute to a positive work environment in the department, college, and university
• A minimum of 4 years college/university teaching experience at the assistant professor level is required for the rank of associate professor, along with a strong record of research and service with publications and presentations in professional venues.
• A minimum of 5 years college/university teaching experience at the associate professor level is required for the rank of professor, along with a strong record of research and service with substantial publications and presentations in professional venues.

Preferred Qualifications:
• For Associate or Professor applicants, licensed at the doctoral level in GA or another state for at least one year
• For Assistant Professor applicants, one year full-time college or university teaching experience
• For all applicants, an integrative theoretical orientation
• For all applicants, an interest in community psychology, rural mental health, and/or underserved populations
