Research Engineer at Georgia Tech/Emory (ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING)
This person provides technical leadership for design, manufacturing and testing of a pediatric continous venovenous hemofilteration (CVVH) device, funded by the National Institutes of Health via the American Recovery and Reinvestment (ARRA) Act Stimulus Funds.
This individual will develop a comprehensive touch screen device interface, with all essential device programming for a novel CVVH device concept using fundamental electro-mechanical and software engineering skills. Ideal candidate will take a leadership role to develop the algorithm design, implementation in an embedded micro-computing system, and test the device for full electro-mechanical functionality.
Position Responsibilities
* Principle designer and programmer for all device software-hardware needs * Ensuring that Human Factors and Industrial Design input is addressed * Ensuring product, safety and quality * Owning the System Requirements and System Architecture * Responsible for the R&D deliverables as defined in the Design and Development Plan * Reviewing and assessing incoming technical issues * Technical content of design reviews * Reviewing and approving design changes * Generating and maintaining program, project and feature list * Ensuring user needs are captured, quality requirements are met and technical risks are mitigated * Owning the design Risk Management Plan, Risk Management Report, hazard analysis and risk controls * Ability to understand and resolve the competing constraints between interrelated functions (engineering, manufacturing, regulatory, marketing, etc.) required to deliver product to market
Job Requirements
* Must possess a Bachelors' degree in Electrical Engineering. MS Engineering Preferred. * Must have 1-2 years experience and possess strong current knowledge on electro-mechanical device design and programming / embedded systems programming / architecture.
* Possess the ability to solve platform level problems that are highly complex and highly diverse in scope. * Able to identify problems before they present themselves and proactively identifies and presents opportunities for improvement at the feature, product and process levels. * Create multiple solutions to problems with solid analysis and trade-off studies * Possess the ability to influence cross functional teams on design decisions at all levels * Ability to conduct effective Design Reviews. * Ability to understand and resolve interdisciplinary engineering challenges and constraints.
